Do You Need Orthotics?

You might be wondering if orthotics could help you. Orthotics are individualised custom inserts worn under your feet, inside your shoes. They are used to improve alignment of your feet and help treat or avoid pain and injury.
If you experience foot or heel pain, ankle issues, calf injuries, knee or hip pain, then it may be a good idea to keep reading.

Signs that you could benefit from orthotics…
– Foot pain or swelling during or after simple everyday activities
– Aching feet at the end of the day
– Sharp heel pain (particularly in the mornings)
– Flat feet with little or no arch
– Calf muscle tears or injuries
– Trouble with balance or frequent falling over
– Uneven wear in your shoes
– Previous lower limb injury (possibly affected the way you walk)

What are computerised orthotics?
Like most things, orthotics have evolved over the years! Using modern-day technology, your walking pattern is assessed by a pressure plate as you walk over it. This allows us to configure an orthotic to improve your foot’s pattern of movement and the positioning of your foot as you stand, walk or run.

This creates a flexible orthotic that will support your feet but also move with them and guide them through movement. These orthotics are much more comfortable than the older “rigid” style orthotics that people have often tried and found very uncomfortable. Most of our clients quickly prefer wearing their orthotics to going without them.
