Hitting the slopes this winter? Skiing or snowboarding, are you physically prepared?

What’s your winter sport? Skiing or snowboarding? Are you ready?

When it comes to winter, (especially for our physiotherapist from Canada), the first thing that comes to mind is snow and lots of it.  One of the best activities to do at the snow is to slide down the top of the hill with either 1 or 2 pieces of “wood” attached to your feet.  So for all of our Back to Health skiers and or snowboarders, are you ready for the upcoming snow season?

What can you do to prepare yourself?

Strength, endurance, balance, and flexibility are the key components to making sure you can make it through your trip or holiday injury free.  Do you have enough mobility in your hips or ankles to carve up the mountain and glide effortlessly down?

If not, follow this simple program to help prepare you for your snowy adventures. The program is simple and can be done with zero/minimal equipment depending on if you want more of a challenge or not. Click on the following link for a quick plan with video examples as well.
