At Back to Health Physiotherapy, we commonly use Scenar therapy as part of our treatment. This article might help you understand better how it works and what scenar can help with it.
SCENAR stands for Self-Controlled Energo-Neuro Adaptive Regulator.
Physiologically our health relies on the continuous exchange of information within the body. Each body system and function is interrelated and works in harmony with others – that is until stress, injury or disease disrupts that communication.
What are the benefits? How does it work?
SCENAR therapy is about up-regulating and normalising the body’s mechanisms of adaptation, restoring dynamic equilibrium and homeostasis. Regulation of this equilibrium is achieved through stimulation and interaction with the nervous and endocrine systems.
The SCENAR device sends out a series of electrical signals through the skin and measures the response being sent back from the central nervous system. This process is called active biofeedback. This specific communication with the nervous system stimulates the release of neuromediators and neuropeptides from cells to stimulate the body’s own healing process. As the SCENAR device monitors and evaluates treatment results, it independently delivers the correct impulse without the possibility of overdosing and hence causing little or no side effects.
The body can get accustomed to a stable pathological state. SCENAR therapy acts as a catalyst to produce regulatory peptides by stimulation of the nervous system including C-fibres. These neuropeptides will interact with multiple body systems and can re-establish the body’s natural healthy physiological state. As these peptides last up to several hours, the healing process will continue long after the treatment is over. This can reduce pain, fatigue, lethargy, low mood and stress.
Due to simply up-regulating the body’s natural healing process, SCENAR can be used to effectively treat a wide range of conditions including; acute and chronic back pain, inflammatory disorders, neck pain, muscle tears, tendinitis, arthritis, fibromyalgia, and chronic pain syndromes.
