Have You Been Experiencing Neck Pain?

Neck pain is a common injury that affects almost every individual at least once in their lifetime. Due to its location, neck pain can bring along additional issues such as headaches, stiffness, or difficulty moving your head. That’s why it’s important to seek treatment early on.

What does neck
 pain feel like?
Some people describe neck pain as a persistent ache, a stabbing/burning sensation, or a shooting pain that travels from the neck to the shoulders and arms.

What can cause neck pain?

  • Muscle sprains or strains (often due to looking down to read, text, or work)
  • Poor posture
  • Uncomfortable sleeping positions or sleeping on the wrong pillow
  • Wear and tear of the joints or the bones in your back
  • Tension in your muscles
  • Accidents, incidents, or injuries
  • Osteoarthritis
  • And occasionally due to illnesses such as swollen lymph nodes or meningitis

How will the physiotherapist help my neck pain?
Here at Back To Health Physio, our clinicians teach you how to safely stretch your neck muscles to relieve tension, improve your range of motion, strengthen the support for your spine, improve blood flow, and ease pain. They may also massage your neck which breaks up knots and improves circulation. If necessary, our physiotherapists will use our Scenar devices which use energetic therapy to regulate and restore balance wherever your body indicates to do so (wherever balance is abnormal). We might also use dry needling if indicated.

Most people’s neck pain can clean up after a few days, but if left, it can linger for longer than it needs to. Don’t hesitate to catch it early, and give us a call at 9997 4970 or email us at [email protected] to talk to one of our trained physiotherapists or click below to book an appointment.
